Artie Lange: Too Fat to Fish
My Book Report
I just finished reading Artie Lange’s book, “Too Fat to Fish”. I realize this book came out years ago, but I felt I needed to read it before reading Artie’s newer book. I’m probably one of the few people that were not already up on every aspect of Artie’s history. While I was a big fan of Howard Stern, being a struggling comedian at the time, I did not follow Stern to satellite radio.
I had heard that Artie was great on the show, and all the controversy surrounding how Jackie the Jokeman left the Stern Team, but the only time I had heard the show with Artie was when I rented a car that had Satellite radio.
As a comedian I had heard Artie Lange was selling out theaters but didn’t know what he did for stand-up. Full disclosure: I kind of assumed Artie was selling out because he was on Stern.
After reading Arties Lange’s first book I was impressed at how insanely honest and courageous he was about his life, addictions and demons. I really enjoyed it and makes me want to check out his comedy and read his next book. He made me rethink about how I do comedy- just short of developing a heroin addiction.
If you are a fan of comedy, I recommend this book. If you are a fan of The Howard Stern show, I’m sure you read it a long time ago. I will definitely be checking out Artie’s stand-up and second book.
