If you've been thinking about trying stand-up yourself, I'm teaching a six-week stand-up comedy class at McCue's Comedy Club in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
I've spent years performing in comedy clubs, theaters, casinos, churches, and on cruise ships, as well as entertaining U.S. troops at military bases around the world. I'm also the founder of the Boston Comedy Festival, and I'll be bringing that real-world experience into the classroom.
This isn't a class where you sit for six weeks listening to somebody talk about comedy. You'll get onstage from the very first class.
We'll work on finding material, joke writing and rewriting, setups and punchlines, timing, delivery, stage presence, building a set, connecting with an audience, and thinking on your feet.
The goal is to help you find your funny — not teach you to sound like somebody else.
Space is limited, so everyone gets meaningful stage time and individual attention.
